Afghanistan set to hang Red Cross worker after conversion to Christianity

Religion Of Peace? Courtesy of UK’s Daily Mail:

An Afghan physiotherapist will be executed within three days for converting to Christianity.

Said Musa, 45, has been held for eight months in a Kabul prison were he claims he has been tortured and sexually abused by inmates and guards.

Mr Musa, who lost his left leg in a landmine explosion in the 1990s, has worked for the Red Cross for 15 years and helps to treat fellow amputees.

He was arrested in May last year as he attempted to seek asylum at the German embassy following a crackdown on Christians within Afghanistan.

He claims he was visited by a judge who told him he would be hanged within days unless he converted back to Islam.

But he remains defiant and said he would be willing to die for his faith.

‘My body is theirs to do what they want with. ‘Only God can decide if my spirit goes to hell.’

Defence lawyers have refused to represent him, while others have dropped the case after receiving death threats.

Mr Musa was arrested after a TV station showed western men baptising Afghans during secret ceremonies.

I have been trying to find a “follow-up” article about “Said Musa” the Afghan Red Cross worker that is “set for haning” for his conversion to Christianity. I can find nothing.

Do you know anything about what has happened? Did they indeed hang him? Is he still in prison? anything?

    Would appreciate you help.

    • Hello Rob and welcome to Questioning With Boldness… I see you have to inquiries about Said Musa on QWB… so I will answer them here in this one post and hopefully redirect you from the other post to this one. I have also been searching for an update on his story and there is nothing that I can find. I have two links for you to check out. The first one is for a fellow blogger who covered this story as well. You can see their write up (It’s from Bunkerville on my blogroll) here. The second link is for a site that has covered it fairly well and it is one that I have been following for updates… Go to Charisma to see their last article here. After reading their write up, use their search box to see their past coverage of the story to get info on his trial and how efforts have failed. Typing Said Musa in the search box brings up his story as well as a few other articles about crimes committed in the region.

I want to personally thank you for your concern on this sad travesty of human relations. This is beyond reprehensible and for it to happen in 2011 in a country that we have troops fighting and dieing in defies the bounds of acceptable understanding.

Once again, thank you for visiting Questioning With Boldness… I appreciate you taking the time to comment and I hope that you will come back again. I also welcome you to share any stories that are of concern to you and things that you may want to covered here.

      -Eric
