This what a real and true American hero looks like. I am deeply saddened that I did not know of him prior to his passing. It is so disheartening to me that men(and women) like this aren’t catapulted to the very tops of our social awareness. This is what a role model is supposed to look like. Even if you don’t serve in the military or don’t like military action, you cannot deny that this man deserves his place in recognition for the valor that he displayed under the worst of life’s conditions. We need to put real heroes in front of our kids, not athletes and celebrities… they show no valor and their conditions in life never will amount to what a soldier experiences the moment he sets foot in a hostile environment.
I found another fitting tribute to him here: The Most Heavily Decorated Veteran Of The Modern Era and a terrific page dedicated to him here: rlhtribute
